- Your House: Examine the bookshelves
and attics for those Bibles and materials that are
covered in dust. Do not forget the kids' rooms! Your
teens don’t use children’s Bibles any
more.
- Your Church: Ask your Pastor if
you can collect Bibles at church. Run an announcement
in your bulletin for a while. Make sure you provide
a collection box, and give people a couple of weeks
after you stop running the bulletin announcement to
make late donations.
- Other Churches: Do you know of
any other churches in your area? Coordinate your church's
effort with the surrounding area's churches. The more
literature you send us, the more we can send around
the world.
- Yard Sales: People will often give
away Bibles if they know they will be used overseas.
- Thrift Shops: Bibles do not sell
well, so even non-Christian managers may discount.
Try to arrange a monthly bulk pick-up, so they won’t
even have to stock the shelves.
- Library Sales: Libraries may have
an annual fund-raiser sale of donated books. Bibles
are typically not sold, and Sale Directors may offer
then at a discount or free.
- Advertise: Use that free newspaper
classified ad or radio trading show as an opportunity
to collect material.
- Public Collection Point: For those
who are really ambitious, consider a public collection
, such as placing a container with an explanatory
sign in a local Bookstore, Christian or otherwise.
